Is this an AI background remover?
No — it removes a background colour rather than using an AI model. That makes it fast, free and fully private, and it works best when the background is a single, fairly even colour: logos, icons, graphics, product photos on white and scanned signatures. Very busy photographic backgrounds are better suited to a dedicated AI cutout tool.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser with the Canvas API — there is no model to download and nothing ever leaves your device.
How do I get a clean edge?
Click the background on the preview to pick the exact colour, then adjust the tolerance slider until the background disappears without eating into your subject. The result is saved as a transparent PNG.
Part of my subject disappeared — how do I fix it?
Lower the tolerance. Keeping “connected edges” mode on also helps: it only removes background that touches the image border, so matching colours inside your subject are left alone.
