Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded anywhere when I remove EXIF data?
No. Everything happens entirely in your browser on your own device. The image is re-encoded locally through your browser's canvas and the cleaned copy never leaves your computer, so there is no upload and no server ever sees your photo or its metadata.
What metadata does this tool actually remove?
Re-encoding the image strips all embedded EXIF metadata, including GPS location coordinates, camera make and model, lens and exposure settings, software, and the original date and time. The cleaned file contains only the raw pixel data, with none of the hidden tags that the original carried.
Will removing metadata reduce my image quality?
Quality stays very close to the original. JPEGs are re-encoded at a high 0.92 quality level, while PNG and WebP files keep their format. You may see a small change in file size, but the visible image looks the same — only the invisible metadata is gone.
