Step-by-step guideHow to Compress a PDF Without Losing Quality

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server when I compress it?
No. Compression happens entirely inside your browser using your device's own processing power. Your PDF is never uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere, so even confidential documents stay completely private on your machine.
Why doesn't compression shrink some PDFs?
This tool works by rasterising each page into a JPEG image at a chosen quality, which is ideal for scanned or image-heavy PDFs. Text-only or vector PDFs are already very small, so converting them to images can give little to no reduction and sometimes even a larger file.
How do the Low, Medium and High quality levels differ?
Each level controls how finely pages are rendered before they are re-saved. Low produces the smallest file with the most visible quality loss, High keeps pages crisp with a more modest size saving, and Medium balances the two for everyday use.
